Phyllis Marriott nee Bloomfield. was a miners daughter born in Dinnington in May 1915 and baptised at St Leonards. She was a lifelong member of St Leonards. Her marriage to Jack Marriot, their daughter baptism and the funeral services of both Jack and Phyllis all took place at St Leonards. Some will remember Phyllis working at the chemists at the corner of New Street and Laughton Road and later at John Burgess’s Deli. Phyllis was loved by all her Church friends and we were all dismayed when she died just a few months before her 100th birthday. We think she holds the record for the longest serving church member - unless anyone can tell us differently! ( There is also an article about Phyllis, in the people section, written by Jon Harvey.)
